Jay Thomas

As a trial lawyer for over 35 years, Jay has litigated hundreds of cases in multiple areas of law and daily life.  Injured men, women and children have received awards or settlements in the millions of dollars for their accident, insurance or work-related claims through his approach and representation.

He also has represented a host of businesses including manufacturers, service companies, franchisees, retailers, contractors, accountants, architects, engineers, doctors, dentists and other health care providers.  Those activities range anywhere from business formation to contract work to strategic legal consulting to labor-management issues to business loss claims and other litigation.

In an expanding field, his practice now includes protecting the rights of persons, young and old, who have been the victims of wrongful acts and misuse of funds by family estate and trust representatives.

S. Lynn Bayes-Weiner

Lynn’s practice areas include elder law, estate planning and special needs, as well as litigation in these fields.  Most recently, she was the winner of the 2012 Kansas City Estate Planning Symposia Prize in Taxation for her paper entitled History Lessons from a So-Called “Death Tax”: Making the Case for the Federal Estate Tax.  She was the Articles and Symposia Editor for the UMKC Law Review for whom she also authored Family Broils and Private Terror: A Gender-Neutral, Psychologically-Based Approach to Domestic Violence and Asylum Law. She is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Missouri Bar Subcommittee on Digital Assets.

With her legal expertise, a Master’s degree in Counseling from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, she is well equipped to assist people of all ages and life situations in her areas of practice.
